UMail - A Portable Email Application
UMail is the most lightweight email application, portable and secure.
See Screenshot.
Before downloading emails to my final email application (MS Outlook),
I always use UMail to get a head list first,
verify suspicious messages, delete spams, so that everything I get on Outlook is absolutely what I really want, clean and safe.
Features
- Portable :
UMail is designed for travellers without a laptop computer -
just copy UMail to a flash disk or even a floppy disk and use it on any computer you can access the Internet.
UMail does not use the hard disk, does not use the system registration table,
in short, your messages are secure.
- Secure :
UMail can display HTML emails, but it does not allow ActiveX, Java, JavaScript, VBScript.
So you don't need to worry about email virus.
- UTF-8 Encoding:
Your outgoing messages are UTF-8 encoded.
This means you can compose a multiple-language message,
Read details.
- Direct Sending:
When sending emails, you have two options: 1. using your ISP's SMTP server;
2. direct sending the emails to the recipients' mail servers -
as if you had a SMTP server with you. See screenshot
- List & Retrieve :
When checking messages,
you can choose to download the email headers only or download complete messages.
And UMail does not delete messages from the server unless you select the "Delete" menu command.
This way, UMail can be used as an assistant maintaining emails on the server.
- Whois and IP Lookup :
When you find a suspicious email,
Whois and Get IP can help you tell its identity.
See How to tell a PayPal and eBay Email for more.
- Notes : A notes database indexed by titles.
