Listen Right is a free program for people who are learning a foreign language to improve listening and reading abilities. Its fundamental function is playing audio and displaying text, like a MP3 player that can display lyrics does, but it also has many other specific functions for learning languages.
Listen Right does not has a progressbar as popular media player does. Instead, it uses the text lines to control the playing of the audio. You can jump to any text line simply by clicking it. Each line can be repeated a number of times before going on to the next line, and a pause can be added at the end of a line. Radom play and dictation exercise are also supported.
Listen Right has its own data file format. The audio and text are stored in one file, the audio is in MP3 format, and the text in Unicode encoding. We have a speical tool for making Listen Right data files. It is here. You can also convert MP3+Lyrics to Listen Right data files.
