MPT Security - Password and Encryption

This page shows how to set MPT password for the first time.

Step 1
Click the [Tools] button (as shown by the red arrow), and select "Security" on the menu.

  • Type the new password twice. The two passwords must be identical, otherwise the "Enable password protection" remains disabled (grayed).
  • Check "Enable password protection".

If you open the "Security" dialog box again after password has been set, the password edit boxes are blank. This is because MPT saves the verifying value of the password, not the password itself. The verifying value can not be reverted to get the original password. If you lose your password, no one can help.

"Encrypt data file" will prevent people from stealing your information using "binary editor" programs. You should check this option if you are using shared computer.
