but they can not duplicate them or edit them.
How is this achieved?
Your pictures are encrypted and only your special-build CDI can display them.
When they use another programm (including the standard version of CDI) to open the picture file,
the program will say something like "The image file is not valid".
Each licensed copy of CDIEnc has a unique encryption key -
your pictures are protected from other sellers alike.

For your quick understanding,
here are the typical steps to make a protected photo CD:
- Prepare your picture files in a hard disk folder (it may have sub-folders).
- Run CDIEnc. It will do the following:
- Encrypt images in this folder (images in its sub-folders will automatically be encryped).
- Put a special version of CDI in this folder.
- Set the end users' accessibilities of the pictures,
for example, can they print? can they copy what is being displayed into clipboard? etc.
- Burn this hard disk folder to CD as you usually do.
